Is your Shopify store getting visitors, but not enough people are actually hitting that “Buy Now” button? Or have you looked at the analytics and can see a high abandonment rate in some of the purchase journeys?
This is obviously very frustrating but don’t worry, you’re not alone. Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO) is the secret weapon that turns browsers into buyers, and I can help you achieve this.
Here is my process of how I look at the analytics and then pinpoint actions to help drive conversion in your store. Please contact me for a quote.
1. Look at the Data
It’s so important to understand your users. Lots of business owners are on their laptops all day and create new pages in the Shopify customiser in the desktop setting. But looking at their data 80% of the traffic are mobile users.
This is why it is so important to look at the real data and see what exactly your users are seeing to get a sense of where things are going wrong and where we can make them right.
What I do:
✔ Look at the most visited pages. Are they easy to find in the navigation and on the homepage? We want to make the user journey as easy as possible
✔ Let’s look at the demographics. Who actually uses the site? And what devices are they using?
✔ Purchase Journey. Where are the abandonment rates happening.
2. UX & Heuristic Review
Now that you’ve got data, it’s time for a UX and heuristic review. This is where I analyse your purchase journey to find what’s annoying your customers.
Taking the most used viewport I create screengrabs of the purchase journey (homepage, Navigation,Collection Page, PDP (Product page) and Cart.
From thai I then create a Miro board highlighting any pain point, things that are done well and suggestions to aid the user and increase conversions.
Common Issues:
❌ Confusing navigation? Customers are lost.
❌ Lack of trust indicators? Nobody will purchase from someone they don’t trust.
❌ Unexpected shipping costs? Say hello to abandoned carts.
I go through every step like a real user and identify the areas causing frustration.
3. Miro Board
Once I’ve uncovered the problem areas, it’s time to visually map out the solutions in Miro. This is where we build a CRO battle plan.
What Happens Here:
✔ Mapping out user flows to see where we can smooth the journey.
✔ Prioritising fixes based on impact—what changes will make the biggest difference?
✔ Creating an action plan, so improvements are clear and structured.
4. New Design or Smaller quick wins with a Shopify Designer
With a game plan in place, it’s time to make the magic happen. Depending on how much needs to change, I’ll either create a fresh design or make targeted tweaks in Figma.
Options:
✔ Small CRO tweaks (like repositioning trust badges or refining CTA buttons).
✔ Full redesigns (if your store needs a major upgrade for better conversions).
✔ Clickable prototypes so you can test before committing to changes.
5. Implementation & A/B Testing
Now, we roll out the changes and test them. A/B testing helps us measure what’s actually improving conversions.
Best Practices:
✔ Test one change at a time to track results effectively.
✔ Use heatmaps (Hotjar, Crazy Egg) to see how users interact with updates.
✔ Monitor the numbers—higher add-to-cart rates? Lower bounce rates? We’re winning.
